My mother has been here for about a year now, and at one point my father was here as well. I have come to know the staff quite well and for the ones that I do know, they are a great group of people. I have never meet the director, nor has this person ever tried to make contact with me. I thought Monty was the director for the longest time. Actually, I have never seen the director there at the facility. I am there periodically throughout the day and mostly between 3pm-7pm. Over the course of a year since my mom first arrived we have had to deal with; items missing from her room, and long wait times for someone to take her to the bathroom (seems like a case of not enough staffing and you can tell the aides are overloaded and stressed, in their defense, my mom prefers a female over a male aide and for that she has to wait, in addition she is a 2 person assist which makes her wait time even longer, to the point she calls me crying). The food is not that great, lack of variety, whoever is in charge of the menu needs to realize this is a generation of older people who don't like "enchilada's" as a dinner choice, not to mention, very small portions. I have worked in a few nursing homes and the issues seem to be across the board, except for the food, other nursing homes have way better food. My father was in the rehab to home hall and they do get the "VIP" treatment on that side, however, a permanent resident does not and they have two residents in a very small room. For the amount of money they receive per resident(what Medicaid pays and what I pay out of pocket) I would expect better treatment and services. I want to move my mom to a more updated, more staffed with better food choices facility however, my mom does not want to change make the change, yet. I have voiced my complaints pertaining to certain issues, even had to call the nurses station to ask them to help my mom to the bathroom, and was told things would be checked into however, no follow through was ever addressed back with me. My mom stated she will tolerate there just because she doesn't want to learn a new place and staff. Woodlands is not 100% bad, but the place does need some improvements in some areas. It's all about what my mom wants, I want better for her, after all this is suppose to be her home and I want her to be happy and comfortable, not stressed.
My aunt is on the dementia side and everyone but one aide is wonderful they all seem to care about the patients and being aide before myself you have to have a special heart to do that work the place is always clean I like that as well
Woodlands is a wonderful place that I would recommend anyone that is looking for an extended home for a loved one. I have had the pleasure of meeting wonderful people that have cared for my mom for the pass 30 years, which has really been a great help due to me having to work and raise a family.
Mom is being cared for in an exceptional manner. Mom is very happy at Woodlands. The caregiver's experience as professionals is outstanding. The caring staff truly seem to enjoy and love their residents.
my mother and father both have been a resident. Could be cleaner but the staff is very helpful and friendly.
